Hosted Engineering Solution adds Web Conferencing and Document Management
New features increase functionality for Product Introduction Collaboration
Toronto, Ontario, January 25, 2005 - ENGINEERING.com Inc. [TSXV:EGN] today released V.2005 of the ENGINEERING.com Collaboration Suite, a hosted engineering collaboration solution for manufacturers. Complete with online project management, file viewing, web-conferencing and supplier management, the ENGINEERING.com Collaboration Suite helps companies manage their new product introductions across distributed design and manufacturing teams.
Collaboration Suite V.2005 now offers web conferencing through a partnership with the Linktivity division of Inter-Tel. Similar to point solutions for web conferencing, Collaboration Suite’s “Quick Conferencing” allows users to share their desktops with other users, make notes and mark-up drawings to achieve a truly collaborative experience.
“We are delighted with the broad range of enhancements available within V.2005, especially the new web conferencing,” said Jeff Mishkin of Premier Design Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri. "With Collaboration Suite, Premier Design can now do a much better job of keeping our suppliers and our customers in the loop. In the global world in which we operate, we now have a competitive edge over our competitors by utilizing the many tools available in Collaboration Suite.”
The new document management features within Collaboration Suite allow users to maintain file revisions and lock specific files from other users while they are being updated. Additional enhanced security features now also allow users to set view and edit file permissions at the folder level. This feature is key to finance teams, for example, when they are working with customer representatives, internal and external engineering teams and with internal and external manufacturing teams on sensitive new product introductions.
“Because this solution is hosted by ENGINEERING.com, our customers received all of the new 2005 functionality automatically at no additional cost and without having to install any new software,” stated John Hayes, President of ENGINEERING.com. “Today’s enhancements represent another demonstration of our commitment to delivering the best online engineering collaboration solution in the market.”
